CP, the creator of NEO: The Super Xeno Human, has announced a brand new manga series — INFERNAL - Lucifer Soul (simply titled INFERNAL).
The series is heavily inspired by Go Nagai’s legendary manga Devilman, and will follow Takashi, a kind and pure-hearted boy who becomes a demon after witnessing the dreaded blood moon. When he learns that Lucifer — the god of demons — is preparing to destroy Earth, Takashi must harden his heart and fight back against the horrors Lucifer sends, protecting his friends and the world itself.
The idea for INFERNAL was born in mid-2025, during the revamp of CP’s previous project, NEO, which evolved into a new concept titled VORTEX. The revamped version introduced a fresh cast including Neo, Kaito, Pig (renamed later), James, and Rin. However, the story went through multiple transformations — from a tournament arc, to Neo struggling with his Xeno side, and even a dark saga centered around fighting demons representing the seven deadly sins.
One recurring theme across all these drafts was the blood moon — a key element that transformed Neo into his final form. CP eventually realized the potential of this idea but sought a new direction altogether.
That turning point came when CP stumbled upon an article titled “These anime are definitely not for kids.” Out of curiosity, he clicked — and one series stood out immediately: Devilman Crybaby. The image of Devilman crying blood against a red void sparked something creative within him. Digging deeper, CP discovered the original 1972 Devilman manga by Go Nagai and became deeply invested in its world.
He read through the original manga, watched the OVAs, then explored sequels like Devilman Lady, Amon: The Apocalypse of Devilman, and even Amon: The Darkside of Devilman. That emotional and violent storytelling, fused with tragedy and symbolism, would become the foundation for his new project — INFERNAL.
CP also confirmed that the blood moon transformation remains central to the series, now serving as the trigger for Takashi’s transformation into his demon form.
INFERNAL - Lucifer Soul is officially scheduled for release in 2026.
